Samples in the making.

Things are going well with paddle samples.  I've made 5 so far and have one left.  The ones below aren't completely sanded and finished but I wanted to get something posted so viewers could see we're doing something.  The samples we will show, as are the ones below, are made of White Oak, but we will offer them in other hardwoods too.

Each paddle will be individually made by me and finished by my wife.  Both of us have very high standards when it come to quality and take pride in what we do.

The Process!

It's been an interesting process so far.  First I needed to make sure every new piece of equipment I recently purchased was in good working order.  To do that I discovered I needed space for the machinery.  Everything is working great and I feel I got more than my money's worth buying all of it.

I made a sample paddle so I could test out each new machine and it worked out well.  I was also getting a general idea how long it would take to make each paddle too.  I'm now in the process of making templates for each design I'm going to offer.  In the mean time I'm checking out prices of other paddle makers out there too.

Beginning the process

I made what I call a "rough cut" demo yesterday.  I took this picture before I put a nice round edge to it.  I've since refined it a bit more and made a template for it and a template for a smaller version.

I'm getting some wood to make a design, or prototype, of a piece of furniture I've had an idea about for some time now too.  I'll make the actual piece and then try it out on my wife.  I thought of it because of a fantasy she has had for years and this will help fulfill that fantasy for her.  It will also serve as a fine addition to her kitchen needs.

Production Begins March 1, 2013

My wife came across a deal on Craig's list that we couldn't pass up.  I was originally just looking for a good band saw but a guy was getting rid of his entire wood working shop tools for a very reasonable price.

The only trick was finding places in my shop for everything.  It's finally coming together and I began my first sample paddle yesterday.  More or less just to test each piece of equipment we  bought.  Everything is working great.

I do need to get an electrician buddy of mine into the shop and rewire outlets and so on but for now I can manage with what I have electric wise.

Our first line of paddles will be of White Oak.

With a nice drill press now I can also make some designs with holes that make the paddle VERY effective too.

I also have ideas in mind for furniture that can sit in any room without anyone knowing it's designed for spanking and sexual fun.

Production to start March 1st.

We'll my wife came across a listing on Craig's list for a multitude of wood shop machinery for a great price.  So now I've got a full shop but with all I need but now it's a matter of space.  I should have that figured out in a week or so and then we'll be in production of our first paddle, which, I'll use in a clip.

Getting things ready for Fall.

It's been some journey getting my wood shop cleaned, organized, insulated and ready for cold whether so I can work throughout the year on whatever I need to work on.

I have an abundance of "White Oak" that I'm excited about turning into paddles and like most things I do I've got some interesting idea for pattern designs too.

I've totally finished the ceiling and insulated the shop what a difference that makes.  We had a warm week the first week it was done and the shop stayed cool.  Then the whether turned suddenly and you could see your breath outside walking from the house to the garage.  But the second I stepped in the garage I could feel the difference.

Such a struggle

It's been such a struggle trying to get everything together.  These pictures are about 2 or 3 months old and I should have more pictures this week.  Finding time has been ridiculous.  We got a lot done this past week though.  I hope to start production this October.
